Join Our Team as a Moderation Volunteer – Help Keep Our Community Safe
1. Role Introduction:
Moderation Volunteers play a vital role in maintaining the safe, respectful, and supportive atmosphere of Supportive Minds. As a moderator, you’ll ensure that our community guidelines are upheld, helping to create an environment where members feel comfortable sharing and engaging. If you have a strong sense of fairness, good communication skills, and a commitment to upholding our values, this role could be a great fit for you.
2. Responsibilities:
- Monitor public and private channels to ensure compliance with community rules and guidelines.
- Respond promptly and fairly to incidents of rule-breaking, including issuing warnings and escalating issues when necessary.
- Assist in managing community reports and flagging any content or behaviour that violates our guidelines.
- Facilitate conflict resolution between members in a respectful and impartial manner.
- Provide guidance and support to members who may need clarification on community rules.
- Participate in regular moderation team meetings to discuss challenges and improve moderation strategies.
3. Expectations:
- Time Commitment:
Minimum of 3-5 hours per week, with flexibility to monitor channels as needed. - Communication:
Stay active in the Moderation Team’s communication channels and attend bi-weekly team meetings. - Training:
Complete initial training on the use of moderation tools, conflict resolution techniques, and community guidelines.
4. Training and Support:
Moderation Volunteers receive comprehensive training on how to use Supportive Minds’ moderation tools, manage conflicts, and handle challenging situations effectively. You’ll have access to resources on conflict resolution and will work closely with our Moderation Manager to address any issues that arise. The Staff Wellbeing Coordinator is also available to provide support if the role becomes emotionally challenging.
