1. Role Introduction:
Management positions at Supportive Minds are perfect for those who have a passion for leadership and a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive community. As a manager, you’ll play a key role in guiding our volunteers, shaping community policies, and ensuring that Supportive Minds remains a safe and welcoming space for everyone. Whether you’re overseeing our Support Team, Moderation Team, or Positivity Team, your contributions will help set the tone and direction of our community.
2. Responsibilities:
- Support Manager:
- Oversee the Support Team, ensuring that all volunteers are well-trained and supported.
- Coordinate training sessions, team meetings, and individual check-ins with support volunteers.
- Develop and implement support strategies to enhance the overall experience for community members.
- Moderation Manager:
- Lead the Moderation Team, manage the moderation tools and settings, and address escalated issues.
- Develop and enforce moderation guidelines, ensuring that community rules are followed.
- Provide guidance and training to new and existing moderation volunteers.
- Positivity Team Manager:
- Guide the Positivity Team in creating and maintaining a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
- Plan and coordinate community events and activities that promote positivity and engagement.
- Support team members in welcoming new members and initiating uplifting conversations.
3. Expectations:
- Time Commitment:
Minimum of 10-15 hours per week. This reflects the level of responsibility required to effectively oversee your team, coordinate events, and engage with the community. - Communication:
Regularly check in with your team, participate in management meetings, and maintain open communication with the community. - Training:
Complete initial and ongoing leadership training, focusing on effective team management and community-building strategies.

Management roles at Supportive Minds involve a deeper level of involvement than other volunteer positions. As a manager, you’ll be guiding your team, planning community activities, and handling various aspects of server management. This includes:
- Team Management:
Providing support and guidance to your team members, checking in regularly, and ensuring they feel empowered and valued. - Planning and Coordination:
Organising events, developing team schedules, and coordinating with other managers to maintain a smooth operation. - Training and Support:
Helping onboard new volunteers, providing ongoing training, and offering additional support as needed.
These responsibilities require a consistent presence and proactive approach to ensure the well-being and effectiveness of your team and the community as a whole.
4. Training and Support:
All managers receive training on leadership best practices, community management, and conflict resolution. You’ll work closely with the Management Group and Advisory Board to shape the direction of the community and implement new initiatives. The Staff Wellbeing Coordinator is available to support you in maintaining your own well-being as you take on these responsibilities.
